Is this the worst they can come up with?

Referring to the McCain-Palin coattailing of Obama’s “Change” theme, Senator Obama said this recently at a campaign rally:

“John McCain says he’s about change, too – except for economic policy, health care policy, tax policy, education policy, foreign policy and Karl Rove-style politics,” Mr. Obama said. “That’s not change. That’s just calling the same thing something different. You can put lipstick on a pig – it’s still a pig.”

Predictably, the McCain campaign jumped all over it, claiming it was a direct insult to Gov. Palin.  Apparently, the expression, which predates most of our grandparents, referred to her because she mentioned lipstick last week in her speech.

How fucking desperate can you get?  This is on the same level as Cindy McCain’s assertion that Palin has “foreign policy experience” because she lives next door to Russia.

Desperate, sad, pathetic.

  1. How could anyone hear what Obama said and think it was an attack on Palin? That’s a huge stretch to make. Sometimes the Republican attack machine is just outright absurd.

Maybe he should have used different words. Everyone, fair or not, is going to think he is talking about Palin. The audience certianly did.

Not too long ago, one of McCain’s supporters asked of him “how do we beat the bitch?” in a direct reference to Hillary Clinton. Not only did McCain not give the lady a talking-down, he actually laughed and called it a “good question”.

This isn’t even close to being that bad. You’re right, though – fair or not, appropriate or not, grammatically correct or not, the association will be made between lipstick and Palin. It’s obvious the Republicans are going to exploit any angle and play any card they can find, no matter how silly, absurd or just plain stupid it is.

We’ll keep an eye out for more of this bullshit.

    The honeymoon is over.

Stop-by and see all the MSM attack pieces on McCain/McCandy.

    Oops!

  5. Afrit007 says:

Didja catch Obama’s response to this latest tempest-in-a-teacup? Sheer brilliance.

I’m wondering when someone from the Obama campaign will make a “skating on thin ice” comment and the McCainiacs will call it an attack on hockey moms. That’s how sad and pathetic they’ve become.

Barack’s showing skills! I love it.
