Talk about tortured logic.  O’l Rushbo can’t get enough of the taste of his own feet these days.  Take this utterly ridiculous statement from a recent broadcast:

LIMBAUGH: The idea that torture doesn’t work- that’s been put out from John McCain on down- You know, for the longest time McCain said torture doesn’t work then he admitted in his acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention last summer that he was broken by North Vietnamese. So what are we to think here?

As reported by ThinkProgress.org, Limbaugh once again took a statement completely out of context and twisted it to suit his own needs.  While McCain did, in fact, say that the VC “broke” him during a torture session, you need to dig a little deeper to find the truth.  I’ll let McCain’s own words speak for themselves:

Eventually, I gave them my ship’s name and squadron number, and confirmed that my target had been the power plant. Pressed for more useful information, I gave the names of the Green Bay Packers’ offensive line, and said they were members of my squadron. When asked to identify future targets, I simply recited the names of a number of North Vietnamese cities that had already been bombed. – Faith of My Fathers

And this quote from a 2005 Newsweek interview sums it up nicely:

“In my experience, abuse of prisoners often produces bad intelligence because under torture a person will say anything he thinks his captors want to hear — whether it is true or false — if he believes it will relieve his suffering.”

In other words, torture doesn’t work.

So, in answer to Rush’s question, what are we to think here?  How about “Rush, you’re a fat, lying, puffed-up, egotistical, narcissistic jackass and a coward.”  How about “Rush, you don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about and should keep your fat pie-hole shut.”  Or how about just “Rush, fuck off and die, you useless coward.”

And that, my friends, is what we’re to think.

There is a point in the life cycle of every talk show when the daily content begins to resemble self-parody.  I’m afraid Rush Limbaugh has reached that point.  Take, for example, this clip from yesterday’s show:

LIMBAUGH: These guys that we’re talking about, they’d cut off their own wives’ heads if they detect them doing something not within the bounds of the law. And we’ve got memos out there today saying how rude and horrible we are because we slapped people.

I just slapped myself. I’m torturing myself right now. That’s torture, according to these people.

Seriously, if the Fat Bastard really wants someone to torture him on the air, I’m sure he can find plenty of takers.  Then the stupid, arrogant, fat fuck can at least make an informed assessment of whether waterboarding and being “slapped around” is torture.

I’ll even provide the bucket and towel.

Pity the Fat Bastard.  He hasn’t been having a good time of it lately, what with his party’s credibility and image in the toilet, and his own image suffering from, well, his own words.  And then there was this recent on-the-air exchange from a veteran, wherein said veteran takes the pill-popping jackass to school, hands his fat ass to him, and proceeds to wipe the floor with him rhetorically.  The Eric Cartman of the airwaves didn’t appreciate his beat-down.  I’ll let the transcript speak for itself, courtesy of MediaMatters.org:

LIMBAUGH: We’re going to go to Chicago. This is Charles. Charles, thank you for waiting and for calling. Great to have you here. Hello.

CALLER: Thanks, Rush. Rush, listen, I voted Republican, and I didn’t — really didn’t want to see Obama get in office. But, you know, Rush, you’re one reason to blame for this election, for the Republicans losing.

First of all, you kept harping about voting for Hillary. The second big issue is the — was the torture issue. I’m a veteran. We’re not supposed to be torturing these people. This is not Nazi Germany, Red China, or North Korea. There’s other ways of interrogating people, and you kept harping about it — “It’s OK,” or “It’s not really torture.” And it was just more than waterboarding. Some of these prisoners were killed under torture.

And it just — it was crazy for you to keep going on and on like Levin and Hannity and Hewitt. It’s like you’re all brainwashed.

And my last comment is, no matter what Obama does, you will still criticize him because I believe you’re brainwashed. You’re just — and I hate to say it — but I think you’re a brainwashed Nazi. Anyone who could believe in torture just has got to be – there’s got to be something wrong with them.

LIMBAUGH: You know —

CALLER: And I know Bush wanted to keep us safe and all of that, but we’re not supposed to be torturing these people.

LIMBAUGH: Charles, if anybody is admitting that they’re brainwashed it would be you.

CALLER: No, no, no, Rush. I don’t think so.

LIMBAUGH: Charles. Charles, Charles —

CALLER: You, Hannity, Hewitt, and Levin are all brainwashed and you know it.

LIMBAUGH: — you said — you said at the beginning of your phone call —

CALLER: Yeah.

LIMBAUGH: — that you didn’t want Obama in there —

CALLER: That’s right.

LIMBAUGH: — but you voted for him because of me.

CALLER: I didn’t vote for him. I voted for McCain. I voted Republican.

LIMBAUGH: Oh, so —

CALLER: I voted Republican.

LIMBAUGH: — you’re saying I turned people off to —

CALLER: You turned people off with all your — all this “vote for Hillary” and all this BS, because you must think people are really stupid.

LIMBAUGH: That was Operation Chaos. That was to keep the —

CALLER: You — no. It didn’t work.

LIMBAUGH: — chaos in the [unintelligible] of the Democrat primaries.

CALLER: It didn’t work. And now what we have with you Hannity, Levin, and Hewitt: sour grapes. That’s all we have. And believe me, I’m not — I’m more to the right than I am to the left.

LIMBAUGH: Oh, of course, you are.

CALLER: I am, and that’s —

LIMBAUGH: Of course, you are. You wouldn’t be calling here with all these sour grapes if you weren’t.

CALLER: Well, I’m so tired of listening to you —

LIMBAUGH: Oh, of course, you are.

CALLER: — go on and on with this — you’ve been brainwashed.

LIMBAUGH: I don’t know of anybody who died from torture. I do not ever —

CALLER: We are not supposed to torture people.

LIMBAUGH: I do not ever —

CALLER: Do you remember World War II, the Nazis? The Nuremberg Trials?

LIMBAUGH: I —

CALLER: Do you remember the Nuremberg Trials?

LIMBAUGH: Charles —

CALLER: Klaus Barbie?

LIMBAUGH: Charles, let me say —

CALLER: Huh?

LIMBAUGH: Barack Obama —

CALLER: What’s the matter with you?

LIMBAUGH: Barack —

CALLER: You never even served in a military.

LIMBAUGH: Barack Obama is —

CALLER: I served in the Marine Corps and the Army.

LIMBAUGH: Charles, Barack Obama is president of the United States today because of stupid, ignorant people who think like you do. You pose — you and your ignorance are the most expensive commodity this country has. You think you know everything. You don’t know diddly-squat.

You call me a Nazi? You call me somebody who supports torture and you want credibility on this program? You know, you’re just plain embarrassing and ludicrous. But it doesn’t surprise me that you’re the kind of Republican that our last candidate attracted. Because you’re no Republican at all based on what the hell you’ve said here.

Well, Rush, you really showed him.  Since you hung up on the caller before he really had the chance to give you the thorough tongue-lashing you deserve, I’ll say right now what he was too much of a gentleman to say.

Rush, you’re a fucking coward.  You’re nothing but a lily-livered, yellow-bellied chickenshit who ducked your chance to serve your country when it was your time.  Oh, I’ve heard the excuses and frankly, I don’t believe them.  Because you’re also a liar and a fraud.  You’ve done nothing for this country.  NOTHING.  You lacked the courage to serve, and yet you support sending other people’s children off to die in a war that never should have been started.  And worse, you have the nerve to criticize a true patriot?  You need to understand something, you fat, ugly, worthless piece of human filth.

Veterans stick together.  We may rib each other from time to time, and take shots at the other services, but when you attack one, you attack us all.  We don’t take shit from civilian cowards like you.

You are a brainwashed Nazi.  You and all your worthless, chickenshit pals on the extreme right – Hannity, Bachmann, Coulter, Malkin, Beck, Gingrich and all the rest.  Not one of you is a patriot in any sense of the word.  The caller was right on all counts, and the reason you cut him off is because, as per usual, you couldn’t refute any of his charges without getting your ass handed to you.

On the other hand, keep up the good work – you and the others I mentioned are the best gift the Republicans have given the Democrats in a long, long time.  Every time one of you opens your mouth, you remind me of why I voted for Obama last year.

This was predictable.

The Fat Bastard has fired back at Newt Gingrich for the latter’s recent comments.  Politico.com has the story.

“I’m frankly getting tired of talking about Newt. I mean, it’s a pointless exercise,” Limbaugh said of Gingrich’s dismissal of him on “Meet the Press.” “I’m surprised by nothing when I’m dealing with people in the media who think they’re in politics. … They are fly-by-night operators, and most of them stand for nothing until they see a poll about what the American people want, and then they go out and try to say one way or another what the American people want while trying to falsely hold onto an ideology at the same time — and you can’t count on them. You can’t depend on them. They will sell you out; they will throw you overboard to save themselves, faster than anything. And they’ll use you on their way up as often as they can at the same time.”

“I mean, next week Newt could come out and profess his total admiration and love for me if it would serve his purposes,” he continued. “They’re running TV ads against me. Newt Gingrich wishes they were running TV ads against him.”

Is he serious?  That line about “people in the media who think they’re in politics… They are fly-by-night operators…” couldn’t be more self-referential, could it? And the last line is just so hubristic, cocky and arrogant it makes me want to vomit.  The Fat Bastard has really outdone himself this time.

I hope Newt shows more spine than his fellow Rushpublicans have of late.  Which means the groveling, sniveling, crawling, spineless, pathetic, cowardly apology to Mr. Oxycontin can’t be far behind.

…and coming from Newt, that’s saying something.

Seriously, on a recent appearance on “Meet the Press”, Newt Gingrich had this to say about the Fat Bastard and his take on the President:

“You’ve got to want the president to succeed,” said the former House Speaker. “You’re irrational if you don’t want the president to succeed. Because if he doesn’t succeed the country doesn’t succeed… I don’t think anyone should want the president of the United States to fail. I want some of his policies to be stopped. But I don’t want the president of the United States to fail. I want him to learn new policies.”

While he didn’t specifically name Limbaugh, it’s clear who Gingrich is actually talking about.  There’s only one conservative neocon jackass out there who’s been screaming about wanting the President to “fail”, and that’s Limbaugh.

Talking about wanting the President to fail isn’t just irrational, it’s anti-American.  We should all, whether we agree with his policies or not, whether we voted for him or not, want his to be a successful presidency.  The best way to define it is if he leaves the country in better shape than it was when he took over.

Unlike what Bush, Cheney & the rest of the Axis of Incompetence and Corruption did to us.

And it’s refreshing to see there are at least a few Republicans out there who haven’t been “bending over and taking it” from the Fat Bastard.  Way to go, Newt.  Hold on to those balls while Limbaugh still lets you have them.

This guy, that’s who:

That’s right, barely one day after correctly labeling Rush Limbaugh as ugly (well, look at the guy), incendiary, and a mere “entertainer” (debatable), GOP Chairman Michael Steele has been forced to crawl snivelingly back into the Republican fold and beg forgiveness from the Fat Bastard himself.

“My intent was not to go after Rush – I have enormous respect for Rush Limbaugh,” Steele said. “I was maybe a little bit inarticulate. … There was no attempt on my part to diminish his voice or his leadership.”

Pathetic.  In case you forgot, here’s video of what Steele actually said.  Try and find the part that’s not accurate in it:

Having trouble?  I couldn’t either.  Well, Steele has proven what we’ve all suspected – he’s nothing but the token black man in the all-white club known as the Republican Party.

Or should we call them the “Rush-publicans”?

Neocon pundit, hypocrite, chickenhawk, liar, draft dodger and boorish jackass Rush Limbaugh is at it again, comparing a wounded veteran to suicide bombers in his recent commentary about a VoteVets ad. Listen to the audio here.

Now, I’m not going to go into the obvious lies and distortions this man continues to peddle, despite having already been roundly schwacked for it in the media. The fact that Limbaugh still continues to defend himself rather than act like a man for a change and admit error is simply astounding. Like so many others of his ilk, he is incapable of 1) recognizing when he’s made a mistake and therefore 2) incapable of admitting it. Which leads him to compound distortion upon lie until we are left wallowing in the whole sordid mess, while he continues to rake in the money all the extra attention earns him.

Instead I’d prefer to focus on the dual insult implied in this statement:

You know, this is such a blatant use of a valiant combat veteran, lying to him about what I said, then strapping those lies to his belt, sending him out via the media in a TV ad to walk into as many people as he can walk into.”

And yet Limbaugh still has the nerve to say he didn’t compare anyone to a suicide bomber. The imagery is very clear, very evocative. Strapping lies (bombs) to his belt and sending him out in public.

But that, as I’ve said, is not the most offensive thing about his statement.

No, what I find inexcusably insensitive is the implication behind the words, that a wounded veteran with TBI (traumatic brain injury) has so lost the capacity for independent thought that he can be easily used by opportunistic, backstabbing liars.

It’s the notion hidden in the words that all Veterans should march in lockstep with Limbaugh, Bush, Cheney and all the other chickenhawks and slavishly support the misguided war that got them hurt in the first place.

It’s the notion that any veteran who has had a change of heart about the war has been “lied to” or “used”.

Limbaugh is a disgrace. He has become so enamored of himself and so insulated from reality by his unthinking, robotic battalions of sycophants – I guess he calls them “dittoheads” – that he’s incapable of understanding that people do have opinions and viewpoints opposite from his, and that they do have valid reasons for holding those views. He’s become nothing more than a caricature of himself.

Rush Limbaugh, liar, chickenhawk, coward

MoveOn.org made an ad attacking one soldier, and got condemned by the Congress for it. Limbaugh has made multiple statements attacking thousands of soldiers, sailors, and marines, and has yet to pay the price.

It’s time to hold him accountable for his actions and remind him, as he has so often and eloquently stated on his own program, that words mean things.

If your local radio station carries Rush Limbaugh, write to them and tell them to send him packing. And write to your congressman and tell him a vote of condemnation is in order.

He has insulted the honor and integrity of our troops, and deserves to pay the price.
